Forty nine years ago, one year after William Booth
Secondary School opened, I stood outside on the balcony

in front of all the staff and more than 600 students of
the school. I had left Scotland with my wife and daughter

a few weeks before to settle into HK in order to take over
the responsibility of being the Principal of WBSS for eight
years.

The future for me at WBSS was largely unknown. However I
had a wonderful and satisfying time whilst being Principal.
I remember well the Swimming Galas, Athletic Meets and

our ‘1000 year’ cruise to Tung Lung Island to celebrate
when our total number of students exceeded 1000.

I also have fond memories of producing the Salvation
Army Musicals such as ‘Jesus Folk’ and ‘The Blood of the

Lamb’. They were a wonderful collaboration of staff and
students. Our aim was always to educate the whole person,
spiritually, mentally and physically.

Looking towards the future, I wish Principal Hung, all the
staff and students of William Booth Secondary School my
best wishes and God’s Blessing on all that you will do and

achieve.
