William Booth Secondary School
On June 23, 1990, following his release from prison,
Nelson Mandela declared: “Education is the most
powerful weapon which you can use to change the
world”.
On this significant occasion, I am compelled to
view the accomplishments of the William Booth
Secondary School through the matrix of Mandela’s
words.
The William Booth Secondary School has, for half a century, helped shape the lives of four
generations of students. The Christian values that it upholds have played an essential part in
instilling character within its community of students, teachers, and parents. Over these years
the school has maintained a vital role in unlocking the potential of its pupils. It is therefore
not unreasonable to conclude that the school has laid a foundation that has shaped – and will
continue to shape – future generations.
Through education, the William Booth Secondary School has played an essential part in
changing the world. Yet, a school is more than classrooms and curriculums. A school finds its
finest expression in the commitment of its principal, teachers, and staff who invest into the
lives of their students. To each, we offer our words of congratulations and express gratitude on
behalf of the students and the local community.
Congratulations,
